Grief doesn’t follow rules

Grief isn’t just about losing a loved one. It can come after the end of a relationship, changes in health, loss of a job, or big life transitions.

The truth is - there’s no “right way” to grieve. Some days it might feel like waves crashing over you. Other days, it might feel like numbness or fog.

Grief can show up as:

Sadness, anger, guilt… even moments of relief or joy.

Trouble sleeping, changes in appetite, or constant tiredness.

Difficulty focusing or feeling like you’re not “yourself.”

What often hurts most are the myths people carry: “You should be over it by now.” “Strong people don’t cry.” “Time heals all wounds.”

The reality: Grief takes its own shape and pace. Healing isn’t about “getting over it”—it’s about learning to live with it in a gentler way.

If you’re finding your grief feels too heavy to carry alone, therapy can provide a safe, supportive space to talk, process, and begin to heal. You don’t have to do it by yourself.
